As the world wide web grew, many problems and challenges were faced, the first being the amount of browsing software, secondly the differing formats. A browser is like the visual tool to view the pages published on the world wide web. The browser in itself like different cars, they handle and operate differently firstly because of their internal engines, and it's visual interface, this is noticeable if you have experimented with Mozilla Firefox (using Netscape open source Mozilla Engine), and the Internet Explorer series of browsers. As such, this affects the way in which the website is coded, to accommodate for the differences in handling.


The secondary issue is that there are many different formats in which that can be coded, such as .html, .asp, .php. This has come about because of the number of different core operating systems available in the industry such as Windows Server, UNIX, and LINIX. Due to this complexity, there has been numerous Books and Literature on Web Authoring based in each of the coding format.
