American Idol has begun to carve out a nice little niche for itself. Perhaps this is an understatement, considering we’re talking about the most popular show in the country. But, I’m talking about a legacy. The American Idols have become stars after appearing on the show, which is a rarity for reality TV. If you look at a show like Survivor, the victor of each season gains a little bit of momentary fame, but usually that fame fades after a few months. American Idol, to gain credibility, needs their winners to continue being famous even after the show ends.
Now, watching American Idol, there are many cynical viewers who would argue that the fame is only momentary as well, and that none of the singers will ever be famous. Thankfully for American Idol, the singers who have won the crown have gone on to claim fame on their own accord.
Just look at season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson. She is a Grammy nominee, she has had number one singles and she can be viewed outside of the realm of American Idol. Carrie Underwood is a huge name in country music these days. Maybe most impressively, Jennifer Hudson, who didn’t even win American Idol, is now nominated for an Oscar.
The point of this is that the Top Ten American Idols Ever, the article by BuddyTV, displays how much potential and star power the American Idol alumni actually have. The show will continue to be successful and one of the reasons is because that the alumni are becoming famous.
