Many people around the world are asking why the Americans keep winning the Tour de France in the obvious answer is that Americans are great. There can be no doubt been in a capitalistic country that prides itself on competition will produce the greatest athletes of all mankind. However you must understand that America has a supreme advantage in that in the United States of America there are over 300 million people choose from.
Consider if you will a small high school compete against another large high school in football. They have more students and players coming out for the team to choose from and therefore by percentages they should have more excellent players. In bicycle racing it is about the team and the individual. Even a small country could in fact produce a single individual superstar and that fact is known.
Yet there are other components as well and that is technology, equipment and training. The United States of America has the best of all that is well. Some say it is an unfair competition because America has such a lead over the rest of the world in sports.
Yet, even if the United States of America were a smaller country it still would produce more great athletes per capita than any other nation in the world simply because of the competitive spirit that is nurtured and competitive societies. Please consider this in 2006.
