Does racism still exist in the world today? Of course it does. Maybe not to the same extent it has in our grandparents lives but make no mistake, it is alive and kicking even in 2006. In one form or another we all have experienced some effects of racism. Even in this colorful world of ours, some of us are constantly reminded of the negativity of racism.
Whether we are striving to climb the ladder of success or just trying to live our everyday lives, racism finds it way into our world. So tell me, what happens when it creeps into the matters of the heart? What happens when we fall in love with someone who is totally different from us? Should we accept what society says about that person and shun them? Or should we look within ourselves for our own individual answer based on what we feel is right?
For those of us who are spiritual, we all were created in our maker's image, For those of us who are not, it is a fact that we all breath the same air, exist in the same world, feel the same pain and if we place our hand in the middle of that individual's chest, won't we feel the beating of a heart that sounds just like our own? To sum it all up, when it comes to loving someone of a different race, why not let the thumping sound on the inside of us be our guide to our own happiness.
